  • Learning the ropes

Well since I'm new around here, and to V-ray (heck, I'm pretty new to this whole rendering caper!) I thought I'd post up a couple of shots of the model I'm currently experimenting with. It's a set of bicycle pedals, modelled quickly in SolidEdge (as I'm more familiar with it, and I think it's maybe a little better suited to this sort of object) and exported to Rhino.

At the moment I'm experimenting with some different HDRIs for GI/background, as well as trying to make the materials I want.

Both of these renders are IM primary, QMC secondary, as I seem to be getting weird, fuzzy results and very long render times when I try and use the QMC primary like I've read about in micha's tutorials and others. Is the IM engine more suited to this sort of scene than QMC, or are my poor results with QMC simply down to user error? :-[

ANy feedback you guys have got would be great, I need all the help I can get.

    Cheers, Shayne.

    Re: Learning the ropes

IM is the fastest GI engine. QMC is very accurate, but slow. I'm not sure it's agood idea to use QMC+QMC. Most I use IM+LC or QMC+LC (LC for secondary allways).

    Nice start.
