  • First time poster: Shadow artifacts

    Hey guys!
This seems like a really nice forum, I'll be sure to pitch in with advice and the likes when I get more comfortable with my Vray enviroment!

I'm pretty new to Vray and I'm having some problems with my shadows, I guess it has to do with my Irradiance and like... how many times it bounces or something? The problems are on the bottom shelf in the center of the table. If you need images of my settings I can get them later on but for now does anyone have a sollution to this problem?

    Thanks!

    Hi

I can only guess what are your settings but I would increase the Irradiance subdivs to 50 and also the samples to 40 or more.

Maybe if you are suing light cache as secondary bounces you should increase the subdivs also.

    Bye

Also decrease the size on the LC subdivisions. The default size of .02 is too big in my opinion, so I decrease it to .01 at max and usually .005

Lightwave, did you use the universal setup? (Adaptiv QMC sampling 1/100, noise level 0.01 ..) Your problem looks like a typical error of this method. If you use it, than go back to a manual setup with adaptive amount 0.85 ... like at my starterkit 3.

Thank you Micha, that solved it!

I'll take a look at your starter-kits also, you seem to be a big contributor of learning tutorials. Thanks...
