  • Global scale

    Hi,

Does anyone know how I can change the global scale in a Vray fur SU scene?
Maybe the scale isn´t the problem, but somehow I get photons the size of tennisballs.
In this render you can see them on the walkway in the bottom.

What GI engines are you using? You mentioned Photons so I guess Photon mapping is one of them? Could you post your GI settings? You can upload the visopt to a free file hosting site and just post the link if you don't want to manually write out your options.

      Re: Global scale

That actually looks like photons from caustic calculations (which is done via photon mapping) rather than from standard light calculations. So if you don't need caustics in your scene then I would disable them. If you do, then check the search distance because depending on your scene the value may be very large. If its not caustics then I'd have to see some scene settings. Next time if you could post an image at a regular angle that would be greatly appreciated. I'm not really sure which way is up... my head hurts and I have a crink in my neck be cause of the weird angle

        Hi,

I think that I have to tell you guys that I am kind of a n00b at Vray. My settings might be way off and totally qrazy. But here´s a link to my .visopt.
The wierd angle is because I had to match the image to some other things in my project.

I looked at the visopt and nothing looks out of the ordinary. Try disabling GI caustics and see if that takes care of it (its at the top of the Indirect Illumination Rollout). Also try decreasing the photo subdivisions and the photon radius in the sun properties. If neither of those work...then I'm stumped.

            Thank you very much.
The sun properties are in the texture editor for the skylight, right?

              Yep - you got it.
