Chances are that the physical camera is enabled (it is by default, so if you haven't disabled it then there's a good chance its still on). The physical camera changes how light is processed by using parameters of the camera (Shutter speed, F-stop, and ISO) to adjust the exposure, or how much light is affecting the final image.
You can do one of several things. First off you could disable the physical camera, which would have your scene react in the typical way (you actually may need to back off on some of the light multipliers if you do that). Secondly you could increase the light multipliers and be very careful with how you tweek them. The third option, is to adjust the shutter speed, f-stop, or ISO to properly expose your scene.
If you want you can also check out the V-Ray manual. Right at the beginning there is an explanation of what functions are enabled in the defaults, and at page 80 or something there is an explanation of the Physical camera.
