    Dear all,
I'm trying to get a good render for a competition, iven if i spent a lot of time working on it the final result is not what i want.
In particular i can't understand the setting for GI is i turn it on everything it too clear if not i need a couple of rectangular light to give a smooth light on top of the wave.

    Please help me

Your render looks great to me.
My understanding of GI is that it is like the sky, so it will illuminate everything, so not much use for night scenes.
If you do want to add more light, then you need to think of the model as a physical model in a studio, and add and adjust lights to get the effect you want. So I would say that your point about using rectangular lights is correct, because you can adjust their position and intensity. These lights also have an 'invisible' option so that you can hide them in your scene.
Let us know how you get on.
