Hi, does anybody know even a clue of why my character has that skin color break? (the creamy color is not the original color.)

i tried and checked the mapping options but i dont know why it behaves like that, maybe i'm missing something.

    material description:

    -translucency option, checked
-diffuse1: tatoo bitmap, and transparency map ( mapping channel 1)
-diffuse2: sikin bitmap (mapping channel 1)
    -bump: pores bitmap

    thanks!

    any critique will be wellcome.

    Re: character

Very Interesting. I'm not a character modeler, so I don't know really what critiques to give on that end, but I'm quite excited to see someone doing character modeling with Rhino (I've been telling the McNeel Guys that this is the next industry that could move to Rhino). Umm, I'm not really sure what would be causing that break in the color of the skin, but my initial reaction would be the edge of a spotlight if you had one directly over the character, but it would need to be in a weird location to cast a shadow like that.

thanks, i will try to render this guy , without that " over-rectangular light" may be the subsurface scattering that, do that. i have only a question, does a translucent material works, in a double sided material?, well, if it would, id like to try to use a real subsurface as the other side material.( that question is beacouse i tired that, but, it wont works; i tought that i proobably be missing something.)

      thanks.

        Hi Juan

Did you model that in Rhino? and what about the black curves? did you trim the original surfaces and apply a new material to those?

I did something like that for in this image, but I wish we had some king of paint brush tool.

          Re: character

yup, it was modeld in rhino, using a surface button named, suface network.

and for the black lines you said, they were done by adding a second difuse layer, in the material editor, whith the tatoo (difuse) and tatoo alpha., then under that, i have the skin difuse layer.

i wish a paint brush tool for this program too.

          best regards.. juan

            Re: character

It looks like your tatoo diffuse layer is not big enough and the mapping is not tiling it. This "decal" technique you are using does not work the same way as Flamingo.
If the alpha channel part of the decal does not stretch over the whole object, you will see something different outside the decal. Since you don't want the tatoo to tile, you might need to make the tatoo texture bigger with more white alpha channel around the perimeter.

It may be something else entirely, but I've run into the problem before when trying to make decals.

very impressive nurbs model. I am always impressed to see character modeling that isnt subdivision modeled. Hard stuff! great job!

(micha) Not for Rhino, but for Photoshop and in 3D.

yes that would be ultra useful, but, i was thinking about vray, the aplication that i thought is like, paint in the viewport, (as modo render does) but i guess that is a different software.
