  • reflections on a small building

    Hello all

At last I have had chance to do some more rendering.
This small extension to an existing house renders in 33mins and uses an image in the 'environment' slot and also has a billboard for one of the reflections. Other than that there is no post rendering work and its all sketchup/vray.

I know it could do with some plants/shrubs along the fence on the right, but I currently don't have anything that would stand up to scrutiny so I decided not to put anything in.

    Feel free to comment.

    Regards
    David

Hi David! Did you use the clearglass vismat that you uploaded in the ASGVIS server? Care to share your settings on the glass window. I'm having a hard time balancing the reflections with the transparency of the glass. Where did you put the billboard?

        Regards,

        Mike

          Thanks for the comments guys.
Mikaztro - yes, this is the same glass vismat, to adjust the transparency, simply adjust the reflection fresnel, 'refract' colour up or down from a luminance of about 80.
I think the main thing is to have something bright to be reflected, so either the environment bitmap or the 'billboard' needs to be quite bright, otherwise the effect can look drab. Adjust the brightness of the billboard by setting the 'intensity multiplier' of the emissive layer of the bitmap to about 50000 if you are using the physical camera.
The billboard (with a view of the rear garden) in this case was positioned so that it reflected in the ground floor window at the end.

          Good luck
