      Nomer

Nice, atmospheric images. I liked them both, but for me I think you need a bit less diffuse on the lighting on the second one, or maybe contain it to create the volume lighting effect.
Is that displacement (!!!) on the carpet? I still haven't got that one sorted out. Very effective.

i say u really  are good with soft light. its really really good.very nice lithing.can u teach us how the lighting was done? ;D

the painting disturbs me a little though.hehehe
              what is the painting about?

dcauldwell- just "group" the object to be displaced it will work.

                    Re: Living Area

                    Looking good Nomer

Both versions are pleasing to the eye.
I think the reason that the vase seems to be floating is that the glass panel underneath is a single face.
With a glass panel that has thickness and refraction going on, this will turn out to be more correct.

I would'nt have a clue how to setup a glass material for it though.

By the way, One of your own paintings there on the wall?

                    Cheers,
                    Biebel

                      Re: Living Area

thanks guys for all your comment though many of you were distubed by the paiting.
david just like what welsh said, just group the face you wanted to displace and you will see the effect. i check the pot, in the model, it's actuall touching the face.. it seems to me the problem is the 3ds model, the undearneath base was too small. so when you rendered it you feel that it's floating. the painting title is "Tension" its a painting using "gestalt" a principle were you let the eye think what it is... good that its disturbing.. think, guess, and let your eyes fill what is missing... and im sure there will be different interpretations.

there is distortion in putting single glaze, and even when you put a double glaze, reflections are just here and there....

here is a sample of what i did before where i did not post before. this sample has one glaze only and you will notice the distortion...

and here is another one with double glaze after reading one thread on this matter. but still, reflections are here and there.

by the way the title of the painting on the wall is Tension2
