  • screws and taper bearing.

well folks, what do you think? any tips and pointers would be helpful.

my render times seem to be quite long. i prob have my setting jacked up wayyyyy too high, but im a beginner so i havent quite figured out the line between efficient and needless render time.

      Hello bLinkIDT,

good start I would say, there are a few thinks you could probably take a look at:

      composition:
I think the picture would benefit, if you would erase the screw behind the middle one in the foreground, since its form is not easy to "read" for the viewer, maybe you could also try to move the screw at the right more in the background to have the elements staged from foreground to background.

      Modeling:
I think the screws need some more attention, the tread seems to be to flat somehow or the thread must be narrower, at least this looks strange at the screw in the foreground...

      Lightning:
right now (could be my display) the picture looks very darkish, I just applied a gradient curve in PS which helped a lot...

what is the purpose of the picture? Is it just for fun or to illustrate a certain aspect?

      my two cents...

as far as the arrangement, yea i know, the one screw is bad, forced perspective. i just tossed it together. ummmm, the lighting is dark ill agree with that. i wanted something a little more dramatic. the threads, um they are actually #2-56 threads, yea yea i know why so small? it was actually for another project, a ring that involved a screw as the "precious mineral" rather than a diamond or something.

purpose: just for fun, this is my first HDR app, and my first image map.

and yes 1GB of ram. its def not enough. im in the market for more soon.

thanks for the imput. please continue this discussion. im all about self improvement.
