I think the last image is much, much better. I like the soft, natural look to it.
I found the earlier ones, including the one with the children, to have too much contrast - almost burnt out. (Is this a climate thing)I don't really care for the children - you need to take care with the lighting on these, it doesn't quite match the scene and, for me, spoils it.
Otherwise they are really nice renders.
thanks david up to now i still cant get the right brightness and contrast of my monitor, maybe i need to buy a new one bec. i really cant adjust it right.. ill try to fix it on my next post thanks again for the comments ;D
For the most part I like these however the railings on the rear let the image down to me. I know that you've use a clip map & transparency to save on poly's but I'd reconsider because these should be receiving highlights from such a bright sun and the current matt black stands out like a sore thumb.
yah i am also surprised by that (railings or fence grills?) those are models even the roof... if i have time ill render a closer view so you can see the detail of all railings and grills specially the roof ;D
that does look great! did you actually model the roof tiles? you know, from that distance I think you could get away with doing the roof tiles w/ a displacement map... shoot, I even made a roof tile displacement map using sketchup only! just modeled a few tiles, used a special SU style w/ fog enabled, and exported the image from top view with camera set to parallel projection. sounds like the makings for a good tutorial!
have a look at this thread to discover how to make displacement and depth maps directly out of SU. On the third page, you can download my terracotta roof tile displacement map.
