Here is one test with gold.

... for transparency try at photoshop: -> layer menu -> last entry ("basic") -> remove white. I use a german photoshop, but this feature is a must.
Also, usage of a grey background color helps to avoid white or black seams.

Nice model. For the metal material I would use two reflection layer to get a more used look (like shown at the material tutorial). Background and reflections dosn't match.
Light panels are looking to homogenous for my taste.
