  • DoF + Motion Blurred Seismograph

hi , we are doing some (luckily) short (35frames) renders of this seismograph needle shaking around as they do, the render times were ok with Dof, but when using MoBlur they slowwwww'd down a lot , i'm using fixed (x3) AA, . . . ahhhgg , see the image ...renders are over 13 minutes per frame on AMD MP1800 x2 1 Gb RAM....i tried a few setting but they made times slower, any suggestions on how to speed this up ....

You could try one of the free render effect motion blur plugins from http://www.maxplugins.de/
(Do a search on 'motion blur')
Both Zap Anderssons MotionBlur 2 plugin and Velocity Channel Motion Blur
behave similarly to Max's Image Motion Blur, but as a (Vray compatible) render effect.

Try using the "Precalc'd overlapping" irradiance map look up mode, it will probably speed things up a little bit.
