  • Another HDRI Test

    Hello everyone!
Another simple scene, as you can see, another HDRI map, but this time I try
to match with background too. It's not perfect, but I think it's better ...
Still not happy with the cloth material, but I don't had the nerves to do it
again, maybe some suggestions for that kind of material, will be appreciated.
    Thanks to all,
    Stefan

                    Re: Another HDRI Test

Nick, I already made some tests, because I wasn't shore, but it was as I expected..
First, I made a closed box, with different colors on the walls, and a chrome sphere. As I
expected, the sphere reflect perfect his"environment", witch is the box. I already have a
HDRI map in environment, but it can be seen, since the box it's closed. Even when I overwrite in the chrome material, the background, the reflections, and in the preview it look ok, when I render, I get the same result: the sphere reflect just the box.
When I remove "the walls" , the sphere reflect the HDRI file , witch I pit it in the environment slot.In the past I try myself to use a hdri without any light in the scene, but it was bad..it was not enough light coming through the windows. In this particular experiment( Another HDRI Test), I only have as geometry, the granite top, the wall from right, the teapot, the cups and the rest is the HDRI map as background and skylight for illumination. No other lights in the scene.
Don't know if this help, still waiting to tell me what exactly do you want to achieve.

                    Stefan

                      Re: Another HDRI Test

                      Hi stefanq...
There's several experiment that I've already try.
                      1. I try to make 3 object with metal material n different colour.
I try to put the HDRI on the GI ( skylight) "m"
There's only reflection of those two object yellow and gree ball, but the HDRI enviroment not show on white ball.

                      then the result...as below

[i][i]2. I try to use background "m" to be add HDRI bitmap
then the result below is still the same, there's no HDRI reflection eventhough I've been do the same in Reflection Enviroment setting.

                      3. I try to do as ur method. Try put HDRI on material object - Reflection Map

Then the result still the same. The HDRI reflection not shown. But at material it showed. Why it's not show at enviroment render??? Bla..bla..bla..I'm so stupid didn't I?

                      4. I try to put some plane and make it as a background as u did before. And of course the background reflection wll be shown on white ball reflection.

But the problem is, just in case the plane will be block cam or block the light or the sunlight. Is there any solution. Or may be, just me have wrong perception about ur info.

                      Thanks,
                      Nick

Nick, this is the link for my hdri file... I think your hdri is not good quality, this one has 20-30 mb ,not shore. Put it in the background and in skylight, without any light in the scene. This should be working! But the maping type should be 'spherical', because the hdri file it's an 'spherical map'. try also to make your sphere with chrome material first, to see exactly what is reflecting, then change materials as u like.O and dont use physical camera.
Sorry for my english, hope you understand. God luck!

                          Thank u stefaq..
                          It works...
But I think the key is on Camera setting...
Before I used Physical camera so It didn't work...HDRI only works on standart camera ( I don't know why?)
Here's the result , I used it with ur HDRI file share...

I try the other one metal : In steel, chrome and alumunium
But its not perfect yet...Do you know what the different setting on 3 of them? can u share?
Because I've seen at ur image the stainless is quite perfect..

                          Thanks,
                          Nick

                            Nice experiments!
I think you will find that HDRI in the environment slot will work with the physical
camera, but needs to have its multiplier set very high for it to show - typically 20-30,000 (depends on the HDRI)

You are right David! for that specific hdri file, I use 1000 multiplier,in
the ''texture editor''of the hdri file, for physical camera to work.
Nick, all my metal materials was imported via <material editor-right click on scene materials-import new material>. You should have it too, those come with v-ray. This it's my other post, where I achieve allmost the same result with, and without physical camera:
