  • Living Room tests

    Hi there, folks!

I´m working on a project of a house here. For the first time i´m doing a lot of tests as the project is advancing. For now i´m posting 3 scenes of waht i got so far:

First of all, forget about materials, i´ll work on that later.

1 - The first one is the SKP view.

2 - This one is Madosettings_ext with no tweak at all.

Lot´s of problems here. Dark spots, light spots, kinda mess here.

3 - The last one is Madosettings with physical camera off and a spherical HDRI file on sky (10 multiply) and on backgroung (2 multiply)

This one is almost what i want. The light fill the room nicely but i have my old problem with the "washed look". And i still want the sun from sketchup in the scene.

Well, that´s it. I´ll change the sofas and look for better settings for them (now it´s the leather material from download session). I also want to improve reflections on the floor (it´s ior 1.3 and reflec gloss 0.85 now). And try to make the lights from the lamp softer. Any help?? Lot of work to do!

    Cheers!

    Re: Living Room tests

turn off refraction in that glass... that should fix the spots... and update ur sun in the environment GI skylight field...

ive also had this problem before, turning off refraction helped, its not necessary to have refraction on glass like that, also only use a single plane as ur glass.

and when ever you can use the physical camera... its more accurate to real life and u have greater control over ur scene...

I removed the refraction layer of the glass. Nice, now light is in the room. Now i´ll try to set a orange/yellow color for that sun, some "Burn areas" are cool in intense light. I´m also using sun size 10 for smooth shadows. Before fix the models i´ll try to get rid of that "washed look".

Hm... with high intensity of the sky (10) things start to go a little crazy. I don´t get sharp highlights as the other image (1) and burn areas are all white (2). My floor reflection is over in highlight areas and it´s just visible on darker areas (3).

The (4) is a reflection that came with the model from google warehouse. Strange isnt´it? Look like plastic.

hi guys, im following this one, learning learning learning... just wondering, is it possible to have an emmissive layer "emit" light with the mado setting? say a laptop lcd glowing just a bit? i can't get it to light up and i just don't know what else to tweak, even tried raising the multiplier of that emissive layer to 30000. im lost. haha thanks!

kgoku: what time of day is that render done at, if its too late or early the sun can act differently to what you see in sketchup, and exactly did you change to 10? because if u increase the size multiplier the shadows do get softer (less sharp).

paulo_kulot: switch to default camera just to see if it is the physical cameras thats causing the problem... if it lights up with the default, then i think ur gonna have to bump the multiplier up even higher with the physical camera...

              Re: Living Room tests

google warehouse dont apply vray materials, vray make some default reflections on materials without any property applied, just link it to a matte material and u get rid
              of that wierd reflections

Free agent, you´re right, right, right!

I was using two panels of glass. i removed one.
I decreased sun size to 1.5
I decreased multiplier to 3 and intensity multiplier to 2 (what´s the diference between than?)
I decreased sun size to 2.
I changed the time to 11 AM

Now...i need to chande the mood of the scene. I tried to get orange/yellow highlight areas but when playing with ozone and turbidity everything gets orange. I also need to set thhose walls white (any good interior walls settings?).

learning a lot here, thanxs guys!

                Cheers!

                  Re: Living Room tests

u can just apply white defalut vray material, or maybe add some bump
and for the mood, pshop makes a very fast and good work with that

                      Re: Living Room tests

I never put reflections on walls. Also, try different color mapping settings, clamp output, sub-pixel, and in global switches, check correct RGB and correct LDR Textures. This could help in order to get the correct colors.
