  • First Post: Entrance

I finally got some time to sit down and really try to work with v-ray. This is far from perfect and Im hoping to hear some feedback, but it is my first true attempt. I need to add more to the scene with some furniture but im kinda out of ideas with that. Thank you in advance for any critiques.

hi there! welcome to the forum!

i reattached ur image and i think:
              1. you should work out smoothing the arched window by adding additional segments.(entity info>make it 60-100 segments)
              2. the floor is nice, bump is good, its great.

              overall its good rendering,
              keep it up my friend!

                Re: First Post: Entrance

Thank you guys. All great comments. I added a little more to the scene and changed a few things...I still need to fix the arch on the window like migz suggested. I also need to get the sunlight to work. I tried going into the environment and reseting everything by ticking and unticking the overide but that did not work..any suggestions on what I could be doing wrong? In the first image only part of the sunlight showed up and the rest disappeared and in this image here, none of the sunlight showed up...thank you in advance for any help.

                  ahhh much better!

but I still think you could get more of the sunlight in maybe with stronger shadows..?
Just my 2 cent, other than that good work !

                    Re: First Post: Entrance

                    hi there,
here's how i tweak the scene to let the light in according to what i want.

                    1. adjust the shadow in skp to the desired setting, i.e letting the light in.
                    2. untick the sun override in the environ tab, then render. ( dont finish the render, stop it as soon as u start seeing it render.
                    3. then, tick the sun override, and rerender again.

thats, it..it will render just as the previous one that u didnt finish.

i hope this works on you!

                    Regards

                      Re: First Post: Entrance

Thanks for the feedback again guys.

Migz, thanks for the tip on the shadows. It turns out that what you said definately worked but the other problem I had was the image I was using for the exterior. I just placed that image on a surface in SU and made it emissive to look like it was kinda glowing and I made it so that it wouldnt receive or cast shadows in SU but I guess that doesnt matter for v-ray, right? The images seemed to be blocking the sunlight in v-ray even though they were visible in SU. Is there any way to accommplish what I was trying to with the emissive background as well as an accurate sun?
