  • Modern Bathroom

This is from a project that I originally rendered using podium but since I am still trying to learn how to use v-ray as well, I thought id just use a model that I had already completed and focus primarily on the rendering itself. Please comment and critique this because I know im a newbie and Ill take all the help and suggestions I can get. Thank you in advance.

    Wow!! Nice work!!

Tel us how did you work on these renders. How many spotlights (or panels, or omnis, emeitance). Engine (HDRI?)

You sould just smooth and bump sopme surfaces.

    Congrats!

nice colors and light, but you have to work on the textures, (use bigger ones so they dont look blurry, and add some bump and specularity) also the geometry, use more complex geometry so objects dont look edgy. nice renders.

very nice renders, i think only detail to change its like nektares said the geometry, looks very edgy, but in all i think they look very good. congrats

          Re: Modern Bathroom

Thank you guys for all the feedback. I completely agree with the edges and I was honestly hesitant on posting the images because that stood out to me right off the bat, but ill have to go back and work on that....is there anyway to further smoothe objects like that because i tried smoothing it in SU but it really didnt do anything even when I pushed the smoothe slider all the way up? Also I do need to play with some bumps but this was a previously made model and i just worked with the textures that were already there to save some time and like the tile for example...I wanted to add bump to it but it was an SU material and I didnt know how to get a JPEG of the texture to create a grayscale image...i thought I saw a thread that told how you can create a jpeg from an SU texture other than doing an export 2d image of a zoomed in area of the tile, any ideas?

Kgoku: first, thank you. I actually didnt use any spotlights cause i didnt like the scallop effects I was getting, even though that was probably more accurate considering I am using can lights. I just used an emmisive material to make them look like they were lit. I didnt use any hdri, just adjusted the physical camera...I increased the iso for the physical camera to about 500 and added four square lights(ill post an SU image if you want me to to show you?)

              Wow, looks very realistic.

The yellow glass is a strange but surprising material to use.
Maybe turn on the caustics to have the full effect of the glass on the surrounding objects?

                Re: Modern Bathroom

Biebel, I apologize for the delayed response but thank you for the comments. I agree, the glass is a little bit strange and it was probably more intended to practice rendering with a material like that as opposed to an actual design decision. The image you commented on did have caustics enabled but I think they didnt really show up at all due to the angle that the light is coming from and position of the camera. Here is another view that I rendered that shows the caustic effects more. Please, let me know what you think? Anyone else feel free to chime in as well. Hope you like it.

                        Re: Modern Bathroom

Thank you Nomer. I was trying to make it as realistic as possbile and im sure that there are plenty of things that I could improve on (like that damn garbage can that looks pretty bad) seeing as how im still pretty new at the v-ray thing. Ive been playing with it for a little but this is only like my third really dedicated attempt. I dont know about you, but Podium was my first rendering program that I learned and im glad it was because of how great of a program it is, but learning it and talking with all the guys like you on the forum really made it that much easier to learn v-ray. I mean like I said, still lots to learn, but I dont think I could have done it with out podium and the guys over there. Thanks again for the input.

                            Re: Modern Bathroom

Thank you explainking. The water was actually a trick I learned on the Podium forum from biebel...I extruded a thin cylinder and grabbed the bottom part of the it and rotated it to create some distortion and then added a water or glass texture with some refraction and rendererd.
