  • Nomeradona 3D ART Series-Updated

well im inspired after that simple render. i felt that i really want to pursue the thin line between 3d vizualization and art itself. I really enjoy this area.

    my memories of hanoi.

here is the screen grab how i set it up. i did not care about plant. i just need the shadow cast.

enjoy.. your comments and crits are warmly welcome.

im updating this with this BOnsai afternoon

This is really beautiful Nomer!! Just like a painting, but better, still can't believe (and sometime it's hard to tell) that it's the same sketchup, with his boxes and lines.... Still...how did you did that wall??????? It's just perfect!

      Re: Nomeradona 3D ART Series

when i went back to hanoi during tet i took alot of wall pictures, textures etc. i think its about texturing and adding slight bump.

try this. take picture any wall with dirt or what. usr this texture as one big texture.
then turn it into black and white. add slight bump with .03-.05 multiplier. render voila.

one thing also is to play the light and shadow. soft shadows will always enhance the lighting of the image.

lastly modelling. before my models were all sharp. i added some curve edge and i found them much better.

        Nomer

        Great stuff - beautiful.
Do you mean that you have been chamfering edges? Because I do think it adds that extra element of realism, especially on close work.

        Wonderful.

          david,

indeed. beveling edges is one of the key to realism. especially those planes near to the camera. if you will see my previous posting(simple render) you will see that elements are really sharp. slight champering will actually smoothen the surface. when you chamfered edges (let say add one face) its just only 1 face with 3 extra edges. now if you compare with trees with thousands polygons still nothing.

and again if your object are far from the camera, i dont think we need that. but if they are near the camera. i think we should. (if you are aiming for extra realism.

Awesome Nomer! The only thing to me that detracts from the realism of the scene is the broom and perhaps the brightness of the red lettering on the wall. Maybe a little post process with the broom (smudge tool in PS)could pull out a few small bristles here and there. Overall...great job on the walls. I am really fond of things that are dirty looking. It's a nice contrast to all the airbrushed and photoshop work that adorns most of the "perfect looking" modern visualization media of the day.

              Re: Nomeradona 3D ART Series

quiet right with that earth mover. that broom is really sharp and its really hard for me to do hairy stuff. with this your right that sometimes post processing is the tool that we could rely. in this image, i post process the broom, plus adjusted the level ( highligt)

hope you like this one. i used sand box and smoove tool for the water surface to make it uneven and applied the water texture used by silvershadow in his eyecandy. added bump map with it.

Ah yes....very nice Nomer. Good improvement! I wonder if you could lower the level of the water to have some of the nice brick texture exposed?

wow, very nice work, only that broom is not that good, it thake out the realysm of the scene.
Why dont you take that out, and put other thing?

yes earthmover, much happier than this one. actuall, i want to add perhaps some elements like floating paper, leaves or even flip flops. initially i wanted the water to be more murky red. but then it became like metal. so i discarded it.

ande, i agree that the broom spoiled out a certain realism. on the other hand in this composition, the broom actually is my main subject. i remember my neighbour, drying their broom that way, after they used it during the rainy season. maybe next time i will just use 2d texture with opacity map.

i think this will be the final version. then i will render a higher resolution. added some floating rubbish and made the water more murkier.
