  • My first posted render

Hey guys. This is my first posted render and I was hoping to get some
feedback. I find it looks really grainy and I'm not sure why.
I'm new at this so any comments will help. Thank you so much. ;D

hello west, what kind of engine are u using? is it quasi montecarlo? i think that without the noise it would look better, you can also try with some settings in the download section, you can learn a lot from those.

      Re: My first posted render

Hey. I am using the high quality-studio vispot from the download section.
Primary Engine: Deterministic Monte-Carlo (16 Subdivs)
Secondary Engine: Light Cache (2000 Subdivs) I have no clue what this means.
      Image Sampler: Adaptive DMC
      Min Subdivs: 1
      Noise Threshold: .001
      Max Subdivs: 4
      System: Max Depth: 60
      Face/Level: 2
      Min Leaf: 0
      Mem Limit: 400
Distributed Rendering box is not checked.

      Global Sitches: Max Depth: 5
      Max transp Level: 50
      Transp. Cutoff : .001
GAMMA CORRECTION OUTPUT: 1 (SHOULD i MAKE THIS HIGHER?)

        Re: My first posted render

gamma correction output should be 2.2 and its grainy because of the render
engine you are using and other factors max depth comes defaut as 2
i think you should try to render that scene with default settings.
and one thing hehe one of the guys sitting there is not going to enjoy the view :P

Thanks for your imput. I will give it a shot with the default settings.
You are right....that chair is facing a concrete wall...lol.
That's too funny. I didn't model the space, just rendering it. Thanks for you help.

            Re: My first posted render

I loaded the default settings and for some reason shadows don't show up anymore. I have no idea how to get the shadows back on. I enabled the caustics function and still no luck. There must be a setting in the Options menue that isn't set correct.

Great! if you could upload your next render with the settings (visopt) it would be easier to give you advice! lots of people on this forum would be glad to help you out, including myself.
