silver_shadows eye candy 2: Black Hawk

Hi there again. I am sure you guys are glad to see me again.I want to show again the power of sketchup and not focus too much on the rendering, because its a mix of render engines, buit still want to share this with those who is interested to see this. This is probably the most anticipated model building project I have ever taken on, trying to push sketchup’s limits more than I have ever imagined it would go. This was a 2 and a half month project and actually thought it would take longer, since I was doing this after hours. The final result was quite pleasing and wanted to do more, since I have modeled everything I could find on this helicopter, but time got the best of me.
I was inspired by this Blackhawk’s beauty that I could have build a lot of other types but it always came back to this. To me this is the most beautiful machine in the helicopter range and is probably one of America’s most useful machine during war, transport, evac and just have so many uses. I liked its body structure and looks. So here she is.

    Specs:

Tools used: The icons listed below is what I have mainly used to construct the bird
Modelling time: 1 full month (if I add up the bits and pieces during the 2 months)
    File size: 32.9mb
Rendering: tests took over a time of a week
Render engines: Introduction page (fryrender – first renders I have done on this application)
    Assembly pages (sketchup v-ray)
Final presentation images (Maxwell render – first renders I have done on this application)

So here we go, how this bird was build, hope you guys like this, all my resources was acquired via going through hundreds of images and I tried to get it as accurate as it can be. After this trying yet but satisfying experience, this would be my last candy for 2008, but I will return in 2009 again. Be well, and thanks for being fans of extreme sketchup. PS: I want at least one omg lol.(swear words are allowed hee hee)

These are my jewels (these last 3 images are not references, but post processed renders)

That's excellent. Great that you posted the process. I'm sure the guys over at Sketchucation would love to see this as well.

The details are fantastic. Did Su begin to crawl under the level of detail you had for this model?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

Re: silver shadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWK

not really, i modelled a lot of elements seperate and mix them together..The stuff that digs my resources, i just put in a layer and switch it off, why have it on if its already build, makes working on other elements much easier. Yea i posted this in fisrt this morning on Sketchucation. Do you guys think this eye candy is better than the previous candy? I still feel i can push sketchup even further...but im taking a break for now. hee hee

Re: silver shadows eye candy 2 : BLACK HAWK

probably just over a month or maybe just less, if i knew how to approach this, had the resources instantly ect. But i had to find every single piece of info on the net bit by bit..and was a bit difficult to make out sometime...especially the rotors

                      the bird is real

I found all my plugins a tthe sketchup forum

                      http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/...orum.php?f=180

you need to register for free to get in..
one plugins smooth and subdivide is not free and shoud be purchased. I did not really use that tool in this model so not really needed. ;D
