steeler, what happen to the sun? i cant seems see the effect of the sun, it seems the building is set up in the interior? are you using hdri to light your exterior? imho i suggest to still enable your sun for lighting and use the hdri for background maybe. the shadow of the sun is much much realistic in terms of exterior render and you can still control the shadow softness. just for info i have also downloaded my exterior setting under the setting section, you might want to use it and tweak it to best suite to you... i know you, and after few testing here and there, your output will thrill us.

100% right nomer. I kinda took the easy route and just used the hdr for my lighting as well but you definately dont get the right feel and depth in the image that the original sun would give you. Im definately gonna use the sun in the final image and ill keep you posted. Thanks as always for the critique

        Re: Commercial Exterior: Update

Here are the final images that we went with. Still only used the HDR as my light source cause it just wasnt looking right with SU sun, but I will continue to play. But for now, it will do. Comments and critiques are always appreciated.

Nice! You can use HDRI for lightning, and you can have the sun too. Just enable the sketchup shadows, and do not use physical camera. Just that the shadows will look sharp, because you can not modify the sun size.

            Re: Commercial Exterior

I had played with enabling the sun but it just wasnt looking right for me. I could probably play more with it but the project had to go out so I was stuck.(Hate when that happens

                  Re: Commercial Exterior

Thanks guys. Someone over on the SU forum was not thrilled about the way the building is in vertical perspective, he felt that it looks like it is falling backwards. I agree that it has that look and it may be a bit extreme for a building that is not that high, but I cant decide one whether or not to change it...what do you guys think?

                    Re: Commercial Exterior

I personally think that the perspective is right, the camera/eye level is at the height of the 2nd floor, if the camera was lower the building would look more "falling back".
