  • Exterior and Bird's-Eye View Photomatch

A few photomatches for one of our projects. The building is already under revising, so the model is scheduled for an update. Which leaves me with more time to improve upon it. I wish to improve materials and lighting.

I think that my main monitor at work has too high contrast, on other monitors it looks a bit too desaturated.

hi Thomthom good render, to blend that in a bit better i think it needs some sharpening in photoshop Filter>sharpen>smart sharpen. just slide it up till it matches the photo

      Thanks.
How does the colours look in your monitor. I have to try to get my monitors calibrated again. I got a new monitor which seem too saturated, and one old that seem too desaturated. And I have a large window next to me so lighting conditions in the room vary greatly, making them hard to calibrate.

Been seeing some of your work thomthom and I am very impressed. The one critique i find in this image is that some of the boats (Im assuming some were added in PS...right?) look like they are floating in mid air. When u get further back in the image, a few just dont look like they are interacting with the water correctly. Its a tiny thing, but it may help. But great work still

Yes, agree with you, the boats doesn't blend very well. It's due to time constraint. I had to do 10 high-res A3 in very short time. But for the next revision I hope to improve on this since I have most of the workflow set up.

However, it's not the boats that's added, it's the water in-front of the building. The river was filled with boats, making it cluttered. So I rendered some water in-front of the building, the part where you see the building's reflection. You can see that it's the areas where the empty water area meets the boats is the areas that look odd.

Nice image thomthom though I think the glass material needs to be sorted. Its almost smokey white whereas it should be much darker and reflecting more of the surroundings. I think that would help the image a lot.

Thanks. I hope to rework all textures for the next round. Then I'll be taking the Revit model into SketchUp so I think there'll be more details as well.
