  • SR1 - Beauty Salon

    Hi Folks
I haven't posted for a while so here is a low budget (credit crunch!) beauty salon for a client.

This is a shop unit, so natural light is coming from behind the camera, supplemented with some rectangular lights illuminating different areas (counter etc.) All done in SR1 (renders in 5 mins) with no PS.

I'm having trouble getting a texture on the back of the leaves on the plant, so any help there would be very much appreciated - and of course C & C very welcome.

    Regards

    David

What kind of texture problem? Doesn't look like too many leaves, can't you manually transfer the texture to the back?

I could transfer the texture to the back of each leaf, but they are made up of many facets, so it would take a while. I was hoping I could just fiddle (a techinical rendering term!) with the top surface texture to get it to show on the back - maybe I'm just being lazy!

Man this component especific, always makes trouble with textures. Always, i dont know its a problem with the component composition, the way he as made, you have to remake al textures to make it work, but if you use the 1.0 version, to make it work, dont link any vray material to him and the textures will look right.

Thanks for the comments. It sounds like I have no alternative but to get stuck in and re-texture.

You could put in a vote for a ruby that would do this automatically. http://www.sketchucation.com/forums/...?f=180&t=13083

We haven't been able to catch too much interest on this one. Even tempting with money hasn't worked.

                As I while away the hours, retexturing a f****** bamboo plant . . . .

Yes, I think it is just a reverse faces problem.
In SU I reduced the opacity of the leaf material to 99% and immediately, in SU, the reverse face had the leaf texture visible. But this didn't happen when I rendered it.

I have found that by re-texturing (!!!!) the leaves, it then renders on the back face ok. What else would you do with your time on a Saturday! (leaf 52, leaf 53, leaf . . . .)

Ai, that could drive anyone mad. I'd be bouncing of the wall whenever I saw another plant.

So badly need a new SU version with improved texture control. Yes, I'm looking at you lot Google people!

Santos - of course I'm not angry with you - sorry if you interpreted it that way. I'm just making a joke ;D. Must be lost in translation!

I think I see what you mean. Before I go completely bonkers, I'll give that a try (I'm on leaf 723!)

You're saying that someone that's textured 723 hasn't already gone bonkers..?
