    Re: SR1 - Beauty Salon

After a good nights sleep, (dreaming of leaves!), and reflecting on the advice from Santos, I thought I would give the quick and dirty method one more go - and it worked.

    So this is it-
    - right click on leaf and select 'select all by material'
    - select 'entity' (will show lots of entities - i.e. leaf facets)
    - entity drop down box will show material applied to each side of the entity
    - replace the 'default' material which will be on the backside with your preference - in my case 'leaf1'
    DONE

I guess I need to go back to Sketchup school :-[ :-[ :-[

Thanks for the advise everyone - I can now get back to a normal life!!

And that transferred the texture to the backside with the correct texture co-ordinates?
Please mention what V-Ray and SketchUp version you are using when posting questions.

Er.. yes . . broadly speaking. Certainly good enough for the back of a leaf, and the plant loogs good now.

The long way (the very, very long way) which I was doing yesterday was re-positioning the texture and projecting it on each leaf - but I decided that life was too short to continue!

          Re: SR1 - Beauty Salon

          david,

The solution, I think, if we use vegetation consisting of a few polygons (especially if the leaves are composed of complex or more faces) is as follows:

          1. I select the leaves, as you rightly say, attack a map with a material that is GHOST achieved simply by SketchUp completely transparent 0%
          2. create a component of all leaves
          3. copy, built the existing component.
          4. edit selection reverse the faces

At this point the geometry doubles but mapping the coordinates are preserved ...

would be wonderful if, exploding the two components, are based maintaining the faces with the material (the principal), but so is not

I think that your bamboo may be the right way ...

          ciao, davide!

I hope that my English is clear!

I am very impressed with your beauty salon design, considering you have mentioned that it is a low budget one. The large picture of the model is very eye-catching. It gives me the idea that I can change the picture every time if I want to make a low cost renovation.
