    Re: some new interiors

this one is the biggest model so far, and it's 139 MB.
i don't have problems with navigating in the model.
i actually have smaller ones(50 MB) but with a lot more textures, in which navigating is difficult.
    so here's the skp view.

        Well done man!
50mb and only 30min of render?
I think I have to figure out how to do that, I don't understand how mines can be so slow.
Anyway I hope you keep on posting your images, is a good way to learn from them

          Re: some new interiors

i try to keep it very simple, and not go too deep in the design problems because these are just some renders of what the apartments might look like. and i have to do about 20 so...
          anyway here's a couple more.

              Re: some new interiors

              hi all, im new here
just want to say: good job!!!! very nice renders

I see that the models are being imported in sketchup, and here is my question, how do you make to preserve the texture coordinates (UVmap) in the models? (specially in the plants)

                Re: some new interiors

well... first of all you have to reapply the textures in max using a standard material, because a 3ds export doesn't recognize vray materials. make sure you rename the textures with no more than 8 characters. then you save a 3ds file in the same place the textures are located. then you import the 3ds file in skp and the textures should be mapped correctly.
                hope this is useful.

                cheers

                      Re: some new interiors

Very great work here. I am still interested in how you got the images so white. I know u said that you used a rectangular light in the windows, but how exactly? When I tried a similar method, it blocked my sunlight and I couldnt get any shadows...why is that? I had the light set to not cast or receive any. And what multiplier did you use for it? Im just wondering because my sunlight keeps turning out far more yellowish in the scene. Any insight would be great because u have a really good setup here. Thanks in advance.

oh and one other thing...why did u decide to change the sun size and burn value? wat did the exactly do for the rendering? because I never touch those settings. Anyone feel free to answer these questions

hey baiucu, may i ask one question. Since u use IM+LC for GI, then how did you fix the noise issue. what setting did u use?

                            Re: some new interiors

                            hi guys.
sorry for the late answer... i've been away for a while.
nomer: the textures are from evermotion models, so i can't share it.
steeler05: -in the skp view i posted earlier you can see where light is placed.
-in the light's proprieties you check "invisible". i used a multiplier of 5000
                            - the sun size controls how soft the shadows are: the smaller the value
                            the sharper the shadows.
-a smaller burn value in the color mapping can help you to get rid of burned areas
                            in your render.
artchung: i know that the DMC engine has nose issues but i never experienced noise problems with IM+LC. anyway these are the settings i used:
                            IM- min rate= -3, max rate= -1, HSph Subdivs= 100, samples= 50, color trsh= 0.4, normal trsh= 0.2, distance trsh= 0.1,
                            LC- subdivs= 1200, sample size= 0.006, prefilter= 1000, use for glossy rays, filter= none.

                            cheers

                              Re: some new interiors

Ok, I went to evermotion website and downloaded on sample the have for a plant.
                              Just wonder some things:
-I directly opened .3ds file in SU, but then of course missed all the maps!
Do I have to remap everything? or is there a way to fix it from max?
-the file is so heavy in su, is there anyway to do someting from max to fix the mesh?
                              TY
                              Vinch
