  • Bathroom parts (ceramic & metal)

    Hi all

Here is something new that we have done some months ago.

    Hope you like it.
    Regards

Very nice work! I've noticed that ceramic sinks have a bit of distortion in the glazing since the firing of the clay never makes for a perfectly smooth distortion free surface. Would adding a bump map to this material make this work? I have VERY little experience with bump mapping.

Could work, best use a procedural noise, it helps to avoid mapping issues.

@Paraglobal: Nice model and image - only to dark for my taste (like allways )

Hey Sergio. You know me, I am big fan of your posts and this one is great as always, but I think I'm with Micha on this one. It's a little neutral and a touch on the dark side. It's still a great render though.

Okay, so here's my first image post and really my first reasonably quality rendering. I tweaked the ceramic with a bump map to get the slight distortion in the glazing and also finally figured out the DOF option. I have to admit, I'm loving Vray so far, but as you can see, the render time was 1h 20m. I would really like to bring that down substantially, but definitely don't know the tricks yet. I adjusted my DMC noise threshold to 0.05 and my Image Sampler noise threshold to 0.02. I find that these allow for a reasonable amount of noise vs. quality and they did bring down the render time. I'd like to be able to bring it down further, but am pretty clueless as to how to do this. Any comments on the image and how it could be improved as well as the render times would be greatly appreciated. I've learned quite a bit from everyone's wealth of knowledge here already.

              Hi there

              That is too much time.
The best is to post the settings but I suspect that time has to do with some displacement that you might be using no?

My scene renders in 5 minutes +-
              regards

I figured it was definitely too long. Here are all of my settings (caustics are turned off)...

All the help I can get is GREATLY appreciated. I'm so new to Vray I really have no idea what most of these options mean let alone what they do. Many thanks in advance!

P.S. Now that I have tweaked the depth of field to look proper, the rendering time has tripled to over 4 hours. Not good at all.
