    Re: exterior view

hi taoklai: a simple scene,,a little noise, and it seems that trees on the right dont match with the lightning of those on the left, overall nice image,,,welcome back, btw the match with the grass looks great!!

thx for the reply teofas, i see what u mean with the trees...but i guess it's acceptable :P - i got a bunch of new 2d trees and i wanted to test them out...i'll post some full 3d exteriors with 3d trees...i want to test how much can vray take
...and the noise is added in ps...maybe too much?

Welcome back! Put me on the fan's list too! I don't know if it's perfect, but, no doubt it's very realistic! Congratulations!

            Re: exterior view

Wow! The grass is very realistic. I think the reflection in the windows is a little distracting though... I think it may be a bit too sharp.

Care to share how the grass was made? I'm very impressed with it! Great stuff!

10q very much for your comments, it's good to be back

steve: for the grass, i kinda' went backwards on this render, i chose the grass from a wallpaper i found on randomwalls.com and i arranged the angle and lighting after that image. I rendered out a RENDER ID channel and i used color select in PS to select the grass area and pasted in the grass wallpaper. Around the house i used different basic brushes in PS to make it look like grass, by deleting or cloning areas from the grass image. hope this helps (it's not complicated - mostly postproduction) Good luck!

                    Re: exterior view - updated

Thanks for the help! But what is a Render ID? Still trying to get to grips with the terminology!

The noise works much better in the second image. However, do you think that the black around the image would work better if it were more subtle like a lens vignetting rather than a border?

                      Re: exterior view - updated

steve: Render ID is a render pass like alpha channel, you just have to add it in vfb channels in the settings (it's very useful in postproduction)

                        Re: exterior view - updated

So essentially, the Render ID is used to create the selection for the grass?

                        Thanks for all the help

Very nice render indeed. I really like your colorstyle.

My I ask what kind of filters you use to get those nice color / contrast ?

                              thx for the comments

jorgensen: i used nik software for the filters - it's a photoshop plugin - and i also used chromatic abberation and crossprocesing from photoshop

dw: i used irradiance map and light cache with physicsl sky and camera with hsv exponential color mapping 1:1
