  • College's Dining Hall

This is my latest work. With this College's Dining Hall model i wanted to keep the poly count to as low as possible while not loosing any of the detail. There are 300 seats in this hall, so i modeled two versions of the table and chair, one with high poly detailed structure, and the 2nd version low poly. So for the closer tables and chairs to camera i used the high-poly and farther Low-poly.

    Faces in model: 85,914

This rendering is really great 40th. The lighting and materials are practically flawless. Something that I think will really help the scene and maybe liven it up is if those chairs werent oriented so perfectly everywhere. Maybe a few turned here and there in the mid-to-foreground areas would help. Also maybe add some lunch trays or any other little things to put on the tables. It may take a little bit of extra time but it will really just liven up what already is a great scene.

        Zuperze, Steelers05,

        Thanks
The chairs were rotated to add to the realism, but the client though it was messy, since there are 300 of those.
As for the accessories, couldn't agree with you more. And i would've add some accessories if i weren't under tight dead-line.

        Thanks for the comments

Very nice rendering! The only thing that bigs me, is the background. I think it's a little too saturated. Where did you get the floor tile texture? Awesome job!

              Re: College's Dining Hall

I figured that might have been the reason. Doesnt it suck when clients want something different but you know it will look so much better another way...and the time constraint is always a bummer. But I guess thats the nature of the beast

                like it very much!
what visopt did you use in this one? like a lot the ilumination of the scene, everything is soo clear! how did you do it? rec light? sketchup sun and physical camera?
i'm really having a big problem with ilumination on my rendering! hahaha
                anyway... love the render!

                  Steelers05,
                  You got it

                  Boomer,
Thanks. I used rect and omni lights as you can see on the ceiling, and Skylight from windows.

Physical camera plays very important part in light exposure.

                    Re: College's Dining Hall

                    that is excellent

i can do the modelling side nicely, its the whole placing the lights and the overall illumination of the scene that i cannot seem to master, may i ask, where did you place the omni and rectangular lights in this model?

and how did you set up the physical camera?

i dont know if this is possible, and im sorry if im asking a bit too much, but it is ok if i request a copy of the scene and files and what not please?

                    thank you x
I can see your faded halo,<br />And I can make it burn again, like the sun.

The IES lights has omni-light and the striped ceiling lights are rectangular lights. Vray sky illumination is coming trough the windows
