  • TMA + Mixed Use Tower

    Hi all...

    Another theoretical design project.

The program is a 40 story mixed-use tower and art museum with underground parking to be located in Tucson, Arizona.

Similar settings as my previous post, except for the lighting I used a series of colored rectangular lights to acheive the variation in the facade of the buildng at night. As far as the design is concerned...what can I say...I am a sucker for perforated copper panels ;D

the night shot is superb... the day shot is just too small on my monitor to be able to appreciate it properly.

Re: TMA + Mixed Use Tower

Thank you all for the comments. The night scene was lit with an HDRI (which I found on the net somewhere), I had a little problem with the splotchiness of the default texture on the ground but I assume that had to do with the resolution of the image. I used Mado Exterior settings, which I think are loacated somewhere on this forum. The variation of the lighting in the building facade was achieved through the placement of overlapping and pulled back copper panels (it was meant to be a sort of dynamic aesthetic). All I really did was array a series of variably colored rectangular lights attached to the surface of the floor planes up the building. Not much PS in this one. I added a specular glow to the image based off of the lighting channel.

Think that is it, let me know if you have any more questions.

Re: TMA + Mixed Use Tower

This is the great part. These images were printed at high resolution approximately 3600 x 4000 (a little bit much I admit ;D). I had access to 10 computers at work so I was able to set up a quick render farm with approximately 24 processors going at the same time overnight. This put the render time for the image at about 2 hours, which is quite alot considering the amount of time it would have taken at such a high resolution.

As far as the settings go, I used Mado Exterior settings. I remember downloading them on this forum about 2 years ago, try searching some topics and if you cannot find them then I can post them.

Thanks again for the comments! I would be glad to share more tricks

what do you mean by "addded a specular glow based off the lighting channels"? i would love to get this effect!
