Need some advice on lighting this scene. It's way too dark in the shadows. I've tried fiddling with the dark and bright multipliers in the Color Mapping settings but if I crank up the dark multiplier it blows out the brights. And when I lower the bright multiplier to compensate the shadows get dark again. Arrgh! I haven't tried photon mapping yet. Even though this is an outdoor space it might be better to treat it like an interior instead. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I know. RPCs suck. But thats what i've got.

I think you need more secondary bounces - bump those up in the vray settings - maybe "deepth" for the number of sec rays in the diret computation could be 6 to 10 (just a idea) and also use your skylight multiplier....

as for color mapping/exposure: I REALLY had a hard time with it so i try not to use it too much but a happy medium seems HSV exponential ar 1/1 for darker/lighter......that tends to get rid of your hot spots w/out screwing up your colors/materials

Photon Mapping could help as its an atrium space. The area is not really too open so it gives the photons good bounce between objects and walls.

Another thing you could try is bump up the Receive/Generate GI settings of the walls.

I agree with cocolas: just raise the multiplier and the depth value in the sec bounces.
I would suggest a depth value of 20.
