            taoklai,

Beautiful work, love the weathering on the textures, soft warm lighting and perfect amount of diffuse glow. I see you've got clumps of geometrical grass around the base of the building, but is the rest of the grass just straight displacement or is there a lot of post work on it also? It looks great!

Nice design too BTW, good proportions, massing and fenestration.

              Re: an exterior test

10x for the comments JACKSON, the grass is just bump (bump multiplier is 10), no displacement (trying to cut back rendertime because it was done on my laptop) and no photoshop was needed for the grass (exept te area closest to the house - a little clone brushing with grass brush). The design of the house is mine and it was intended to be an urban house but i tried to see how it looked in a wild environment...and i liked it

Hi again, Taoklai, can you tell my about lighting ? Did you use rectangular/omni ligts ?

                  Re: an exterior test

to SIMAS : The scene was lit by phisycal sun with a size multiplier of 5 and phisycal sky, no other kind of lights were used. (but if i were to replace the sun with a certain light, I would use rectangular lights instead of omni.)

                    Re: an exterior test

                    Nice render and design!

Really thought there must be a lot of PP in it but billboards also can do the job i see!

                    3 questions:

                    - the connection between the grass and the concrete; is it just the bumpmap wich made it so needless?
                    - the grass...damn If you want to share it feel free...
                    - The concrete with the dirty spots on the roof side looks very realistic; is it a texture or a effect?

                      - the grass near the house was made in photoshop using the clone tool and a basic grass brush
                      - i will gladly share the texture but after 2 weeks, because that´s when I´ll be at my desk.
                      - the concrete is a texture

                          Re: an exterior test

Render took 1h. No displacement was used for the grass, just bump multiplied by 10

How did you get the warm colour tone? In post?

thomthom - the color effect is mostly photoshop. The scene was lit with vray sun and sky and photo filters were added to achieve that effect.
