  • Exterior Photomatch

    hello everybody!
these are of the proposals for the materials and colors of a facade i'm finishing here in my city.
i made the render for myself in order to find the most apropiate materials acording to the requests of the client.
Settings are pretty simple actually, i just turned off phisical camera and illuminated with an HDRI of the site with a 2.35 for the multiplier value.
render time is 6 minutes with
    quasi montecarlo sampler .001
    color mapping exponential
indirect illumination irradiance map with a -5 and -2 for the min and max rate
and light cache 1000 with a .001 for the sample size

    comments please

I'm liking the materials in the first render, I like the contrast between dark and light, I also think it suits bamboo :P but this is all personal opinion.
As for the render; It looks very nice apart from the car :P it looks quite faceted.

thank you jebimasta... and i know, but i don't know how to make it look more real... i just uploaded another shot which i think looks better...
there is another car in the original photo, but it couldn't make it fit because it was not affected by the hdri...

        Re: Exterior Photomatch

I always finds it very nice to see what a different colour of facade can do to a building. Very nice renders i must say and the only comment i can think of is that the cars are to shiny. Maybe turn the reflectiveness a bit down of the car material. But the building is the most important in the render and that looks very nice.

I would like to ask how you have made the hdri from the site. I haven't got it working yet. Maybe need to jump into the manual again to completely figure this out.

        Very nice renders!

hey proseduction... thank you for your comments
how to do an hdri of the site is actually pretty simple... the difficult stuff is trying to make a panorama image.
you see, my image is just a simple photo of the other side of the street wich i saved 4 times with different levels of exposure...
then you just have to open them in photoshop (all of them) and go to file/automate/ and merge to hdri...
the idea is to save that same image several times and modify it's exposure levels in order to make everithing visible... your're trying to merge four images with all the visible information to create one high dinamical range image...
i just repeated that image horizontally in vray until i got the right illumination but it is basically "prueba y error" cause i don't understand how to orient hdri's yet.
for the panorama image you need an eye fish lens and different pictures. there's a method to join the images in one, and i believe the idea would be to copy that merged image 4 times and then turn them into an hdri

            Re: Exterior Photomatch

That last image is a photo of the building right? I was thinking "WOW! now thats a render!" It's really awesome to see the actual project, shame about that phone/electricity pylon! As Proseduction says, the car is relatively unimportant compared to the building, which is looking great (still like the darker facade )

              Re: Exterior Photomatch

yep, i know, i also like the darkar facade the most, and it is a shame about the pylon, but the last time i saw the owners i think i convinced them to move it... we just have to finish some other details first!
thank you very much for your comments. it's my first post ever :P
