  • A nice mill...I think

    Hi,

I'm just modelling a mill but I keep getting errors in the render. See the image. None of the model has any errors (anymore... I had to redo a few things).

Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong?

i had the exact same problem over and over again. tried all the tips and tricks shown in the 1001 tutorials dealing with splotches. those are mainly:

*get rid of raytrace materials (i used only vray mats)
*run the cropping script that was written (you can look it up in the tips and trick forum) - didn't help.
*increasing the GI settings - didn't help either.

BUT - i found a weird yet effective solution: i noticed that if i save the file, open a previous and less complex version of it (i always keep backups at critical points), render it, and then re-open the funny-acting file - it renders fine (!)
i have no explentaion, but it does the trick for me...
    hope this helps.

erm i think this is a render setting problem:
you have "photon map" activated in your GI-settings. try "irradience map" instead with "direct computation".

When using technical camara make sure that you uncheck the "max compatiblity shade context" or something like that, under system options in Vray rollout.
