  • Modular Compact Living #092

I've been intermittently working on this project for the last few months as one of my few back-burner exploration, and I have now reached the point where I am not sure where to go with the external modeling (minus an environment). So it brings me to ask you, what should I do next or change or whatever you think in regards to the design and rendering? All suggestions welcome.

    hi tourniquetmaster...
do you have an interior image to understand functionality?
my only doubt about exterior would be how are you thinking to support both elements.
for rendering: i would first change the afternoon background, perhaps add some plants and texture to the floor.

I actually tend not to render in my environments (plant life and stuff), which often leads to reflection problems, but for personal projects i don't consider this much of an issue, just a time saver. And so instead do (not really too) shoddy photoshop jobs. I kept the hdri in ease of time as well. enjoy:

I would explain the structure in diagram, but I dont have the time so I'll just explain in words and hopefully it will be clear.

The duel front structure works as an initial cantilever base for the two lightweight module, in addition the top module is pinned to the frame on the top (not really visible), and then the bottom unit is suspended off of it (visible if you look carefully between the two units). In diagram it then creates a crooked cross brace. Not the most secure system, quite a few possible sheer moments but in concept it works, it is largely dependent on the total strength of the stength of the support structure and the weight of the modules. Ideally I should also add supports to the floating end of the bottom module, however it is not overly important as it is just a concept.

The interior is in the works, I'll post it eventually, probably a few week. It will explain functionality and the buildings sacrificial dysfunction a lot better.
