  • Bathroom Interior - real project of modernization flat in tenement part 1

    Welcome everybody,

I'am new at forum and in rendering world. I would like to show my first render with Vray in SketchUp and ask for some tips.
I am seeking for sb's advice what to change in materials, lights and vray settings.
I will be very grateful for any post with tip for me.

My renders are not even close to photorealistics and rendering time is often very long.
    My spec:
    Q6600 2.4GHz @ 3.4GHz
    EVGA nforce 680i
    8Gb OCZ Reaper 1066MHz at 5-4-4-13
    RAID 0 2x320Gb Seagate 7200rpm 16mb cache

you have a really good start here, but a few constructive comments:

the towels are hurting a bit...they are way too "chunky" looking and is not something I could see anyone wanting to wash their face with and etc..

some of your materials need to have their subdivision increased to get rid of the noise and maybe bump up your rendering settings to get rid of the overall noise in the image

and one last thing....are those rods supposed to be chrome? They look like a glossy PVC pipe material and seem kind of odd in this scene

Keep pluggin away thought, because the scenes are really starting to come alive.

-I cant do realistic towel material. I dont know which options in displacment i am messing and thats all what i got. I know that could be a map but maps are good enought i think.
-Which options i have to change (subdivision) - general vray settings or in materials? What that's mean that i have to "bump up" render settings?
-last think, which rods looks like chrome? This one with glass door to shower cabin?

Thanks a lot for posting and I am waiting for more critics

When you add a reflection layer to material it has a subdivision value. The default is 8 which comes out often noisy. Bump up= Increase this value and set good value on Image sampler and DMC Sampler.

I believe steeler meant the rood that support the towel.

Also I would turn on the antialiasing so the outlines of the light sources won't be so rough.

Overall you have a good thing going on there.

Re: Bathroom Interior - real project of modernization flat in tenement part 1

ART: Try increasing you "max subdivs" for the displacement to about 400 and lowering your edge lenth to abour 2-3 and see if that helps. If you are still having trouble, it may be the map you are using. Also make sure you geometry is subdivided in several polygons and that it is a group in order to assure that the displacement will act predictably.

40th explained everything else very well and he was right, in that I was reffering to the support rods for the towels...they look like they should be some sort of metal material

Re: Bathroom Interior - real project of modernization flat in tenement part 1

Ive done render with "bumped up" settings. I increase subdivs value from 8 to 32 in all materials and I changed displacment settings subdivs 256 -> 400 and edge lenght 6 -> 3.
Displecment areas looks now better and light reflections also but I want to get better quality of render without "stains" and better reflections on floor, toilet bowl and padding pool (in second image material of this stuff is more reflective but quality of this reflection is still very poor)
                  Second image was rendered with
                  Image Sampler: Adaptive DMC min.subdivs: 2 max.subdivs: 32, AA: Area 1.5
DMC Sampler: as I remember Ive change min.sampler from 6 -> 16 but i dont remember value that was as standard (6?)
Irradiance map: min rate: -2 maxrate: 0

The result is still annoying me. In thie picture numer 3 Ive mark areas that are still not satisfty me.
