Re: Personal projects (Sci-fi and Fantasy)

More WIP from last night. I added more details (panels on the hull, exhaust engines, etc.).

    Have a nice day!

stunning model work...extremely impressed. I agree that your rendering could use some more pracitce, but dont let that be discouraging, because ur renderings still look above average in my opinion. Its just good cause you have one of the most important phases of 3d rendering down pat with your modeling skills. Great work.

Ken, I hardly know what I want to say....I just don't know why I didn't comment sooner. About your rendering skills, I would say don't worry! If you can model like you do with sketchup, you definitely will rule vray in no time.

Re: Personal projects (Sci-fi and Fantasy)

@ gallystops: No, I did not use Toon materials. Just did a simple render with Vray and overlay with lines from Sketchup render.

@ steelers05: Thanks for your kind words. Yes, I still have to improve on my rendering skills. I learned a lot and are very inspired by all of you guys in this forum.

@ stefanq: Thank you for your nice comment. Right now my focus is on modeling with Sketchup, but I will certainly spend more time learning Vray in the near future.

            >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>

ok, so last night was not quite productive. My little princess was not able to sleep and cried due to teething. Then after I sooth her back to sleep, I went out to take a break on the sofa, but fell asleep. LOL

I guess my body was so tired from all the lack of sleep from the past week and needed to shut down. Well, it's good. I needed to recharge.

I had time to only block the other part of the ship that could be another smaller ship on its own.

Below are the 6 views (front, back, left, right, top, and bottom) that are required for the submission.

So my plan is to enter them as well as have another entry with all the perspective and close up of the starship.

All of them are still WIP and I have lots to do (adding details, panels on the hulls, etc.). I will also have interior of some docks for little starfighters or something.

Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful day!

Seeing these models I wonder what am I doing here, hehe amazingly detailed models that require much attention from you, actually do not have to render these objects: D They look phenomenal as models

@ bazakontur: Thank you for your kind words.

@ Teo: Thanks for your nice comment.

Here's the link to the EVE online contest:

                  http://news.deviantart.com/article/128272/

                  Here are the entries:
                  http://browse.deviantart.com/contests/2010/eveonline/

You have to be a member of Deviant Art to be able to see them.

I think i will focus mainly on my high detailed model with the 6 views in black/white lines for the main submission. I will also submit another one with renders of different views and details like the ones below. I don't think I will have time to do a colored render. since it is just an option, I don't think it will be a big deal. There are many entries (most of the nice ones actually) that have great colored renders, but the 6 views are so simple and even lack the details. Since the judges will mainly look at the orthogonal views, I want to show some very nice detailed views.

Here are some more views of the WIP from last night or this morning since It's past 6am and I am still awake. :enlight:

I added a lot more details, but still have to finish some parts that are still empty. But it's getting there.

Thanks for viewing and have a great friday and weekend!

                      Ken,
you're crazy ;D but hey - you're with the Legion, right?
Never thought this would be possible with Sketchup, you prove me wrong

I draw some freehand spaceship sketches from time to time to break up some gridlocked thoughts of mine.
                      Similar to Scott Robertson's stuff.
I'm not a sci-fi fanboy at all, but I totally love it when people go creatively insane on spaceships ;D

So, mate... I'm really looking very much forward so seeing your final submission - that'll blow through the roof for sure!
And: Good luck with the competition

                      Cheers,
                      Matt

@ Teo: Thanks for your kind comment. Yeah, hopefully I can win one of the 3 first prizes. That would be really cool.

@ Matthias: Thank you so much for your great support. Yes, I am crazy....I think gallystop mentioned it already...LOL ;D

                        What is the Legion?

I have a book from Scott Robertson. He has awesome sketches of spaceships.

                        >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Here are the latest WIP with more details added. One more week to go. Deadline for the contest is next Wednesday. I have the back (top and bottom) to finish.

I run into a problem when rendering with Vray. It worked when it's half of the ship. But when I mirrored the model to have a both sides, Sketchup and Vray crashed. Maybe they cannot handle such a big and intensive polycount model. ???

Anyway, thanks for viewing. Have a terrific day!

Holy moly, mate, this is so intense!

Isn't there a group of mid-sized ships called "Legion" in the Amarr range?
                              http://www.eve-wiki.net/index.php?title=Legion
But, I reviewed it - yours looks way bigger than those... oops.

Concerning your program crashes: you could render to disk (vrimg), if you're not already doing this. Check out the forum search on this topic!

Don't forget to post your final renders, mate!
                              Looking very much fwd!!
