This is a 2 year old project revisited in Vray. Towers like these take a long time to develope in Holland, so every once in a while some new visuals are asked for.
I took the oportunity to experiment with my newly accuired Dosch HDRI skies. They work nice but for buildings like these, they could be of a higher resolution.
Now I need to work on some better light inside the building.

crits and tips are more then welcome.

Just a tip on windows: Don't use default Fresnel Falloff.
The fresnel effect depends on light intensie in realworld. Unfortunaly we are forced to do no overbright or dark images.
So, your windows should reflect more on the direct view angle and less on the sides. (I know this is never real, but till we get a real glas shader in Vray it's a way to work)

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words.

The scne is about 1.6 million polygons, so far
Rendertimes: don't know forgot to check after an overnight rendering on a dual 800. The scene is too big to go over the network in one piece; To lazy to split it up.
            I'll inform you guys tomorrow.

ps: the glass has a p/p falloff. I never use the fresnell check box. I guess the glass doesn't reflect anything because there's nothing to reflect and I want a view inside at that point.

Looks great Marc. Pure HRDI map? No other lights (besdies the interior ones)?

really nice - love the way the glass and metal paneling catches the sunset....very unique...

can you give us the settings for that metal paneling on the side of the tower???

                thanks,

                paul.

                EDIT:
just courious, what building is it??

                  Here's the other side.

The metal paneling is a material with glossy reflection on 0.6 and samples on 3, a number under 5 gives this metalic grain.

Still not much luck on the lighting of the interior. I tried about 30 omni's with shadow maps (about 300 size) but that takes more then 1 gig of memory (the ram I have) so long rendertimes. Maybe painting in PS is the better way.

                  greetz,

                  Marc
