  • Business card idea

In an effort to come up with a decent biz-card, I thought Vray would be the perfect tool. Its very tech looking, but that is the nature of the business right? Then all the contact info will be on the backside. C&C is more than welcome.

It's really cool on screen. However, you will encounter major issues getting the neon to print cmyk. The black might also bleed into the surround 'glows.'

I think it would make a great web lay-out, really looks cool, for a business card I'd probably go with something simpler, a lot of people still prefer the plain old white and black. A smaller logo can work great.

It's very cool, i like it very much... do try to print some tests to see if the affect works. from my experience CMYK dulls the shit out of nice renders.

Myself I wouldn’t go for something with this much detail for a BIZ card ( detail colorwize and pixelwize ) I would make something more graphic with a smaller color palette and larger ( relative to the card ) areas of color.

Very slick! How did you do the neon lights? My experience with VRay self-illuminated object lights is often a lot of artifacts.

          Cheers,

Didn't have too much troulbe with artifacts, but I did notice that when I increase the IRmap settings it was a little more smooth off in the background. For the material all I used was a standard mat w/ 100% self illumination & color of your choice. Then add a vraymtlwrapper and turn up the generate gi to 4 or 5.

Thanks for all the other comments. I hate cmyk printing. I don't know much about it, but I have had some bad experiences to know that you have a good point about printing this.

Will also give consideration to a more simple layout.

the crits so far are correct- cmyk can kill this sort of work. play to the strengths of cmyk (very few) go right into pshop/convert and print hard copy. study the reality and go from there

also consider that while 4/c one one side is not really pricey these days- going with the second side- even black (one color) will jack-up the costs. Now add in the fact that what appears here indictates that all 4 sides will bleed.

you are really adding to cost there- the typical setup for cards is eight up that the printer uses off an 8.5 x 11 sheet if that can't be done- be careful.

last caveats- most cards today have the type too small and are not easy to read- remember they are buying your talent not the card. wow 'em with your talent. the card is quickly forgotten when placed with all the others. hopefully your talent isn't. good luck
