          no, seems to work again...

the chrome is just normal vray mat (black) with grey as reflection....

as a comment i think what makes or breaks the realism of shiny leather is lighting. Actually the "shiny" part of the leather is specular reflections. The trick is however is how to get them. In Vray its a bit difficult to get this in lets say a scenen only lit by skylight since there are no lights that give off specular illumination. A good trick is to place strategic onmi lights set to specular only and include only objects that you want to have specular highlights. Using a standard material is also easier than using a Vray material since Vray materials do not carry the "fake" specularity as does a standard max material. To achieve this using Vray mats, you will either have to give it true refelctions (using glossy) which will be the most realistic way to do it since specular highlights ARE actually true reflections. Or you can fake it somewhat by putting on glossy refelctions on the Vray material but turning off trace reflections in the options menu. This second option is much faster but will not be as accurate as the first method. Finally adding a good bump map will enhance the realism a lot.

            Hope this tip is useful.

If I remember correctly- Metro used tweaked Falloff maps in his vraymat channels. His method works really nicely...

thanks for the tip J. galang - that helps a lot , not only w/ leather but w/ metals like aluminum or brushed in general......appreciated.

                    It is really great!!

The only thing I would dare to suggest is to add some bumbmap to to the leather, as it usually has noticeable patterns.
