  • dusk image, more or less finished

Ran out of time with this project, have to get on with two other project, so I decided that this would be the final image. HDRI lighting and reflection. Takes about 9 hours to render in the original format, this is an asymetrical crop. Probably 1/2 of the original left- and bottom part of the image was thrown away to get a more dynamic perspective. Left over was an image 3500 pixels wide.

    Looks cool.

But I would rather not visit the top of the tower... at least not without spikes on my shoes

hrm...good point...if the window lines are perpendicular to the vertical edges of the building then all the floors after the kink wouldnt be level.

but as far as visualizations go, its top notch

          Glad you guys like it.

As far as the floors go: the towers have the shape of a boomerang, the camera is an extreme wide angle and is looking slightly upward. Last but not least, the top of the tower is at an angle too.

What do you think about the car? the client was nagging today that the car looked like the doors were open and they wanted it moved to the right of the image. I told them I would have another look at it, which basicly means that I like it like this. I think moving the car to the right spoils the whole tension of the image. And the doors...ah well.

I'm on to the next wierd building from this architecture firm. I got a 1:1000 fax today with the drawings. The building is not a big one.

this is what I have so far

Let's hope this is what they designed

very nice architectural image, but if i were the client i'd be really concerned about that "falling back" of the top floors.

this kind of image look like it'll be used for marketing/ads and such falling lines do not look very convincing...

did you try using a technical camera?

Hey, thanks for the comments. And, yes these are promotional images for a magazine publication, so you can guess that they don't have much to do with the going to be build reality. First sell the design, then think about contruction. The first one, the boomerang building is comming into investors stage. That means some investor might be interested. The second one should just be stunning. More of a concept car thing. For the last image, it turns out that the façade web thing I made out of glass, should be concrete (hard to see on a 1:1000 drawing), so I'll have to think of some fast looking concrete.

                    I'll keep you informed.

its a lexus in that first image isn't it? maybe try toning the colour down a bit rather than re-rendering the thing.

                      flamin' clients! who needs 'em?

Here's an update on the latest 'major cantilever' project. It's an off hours project so progress is slow. Hope to get it finished by the end of the week.
The building is only lit with a HDRI image.

Hummm... I like the first a lot more, have a great presence and concept.... the last image, with the extra glass facades break the inicial concept and all the strenght imo...

Keep posting the updates, I dont belive they will keep this version...

                              Gonçalo,

I couldn't agree with you more. But hey, you know architects
Maybe I'll do a proposal where the main façade is less transparent, or the extra façade fill ins are less reflective so the main form comes out better.

                              I'll keep posting updates.
