  • WIP - white model

    Hi Guys:
Spent the last couple days on this project. Client did not understand the space so we decided to create 3D model. Kept it all white to show only space and lighting. There are tons of modelling errors because I had to do it so quickly. Ornamentation is a pain in the ass to model. Enjoy!

    24 hours total modelling time.
    1.3 million faces.
IRMAP calc time around 16 minutes each view.
2000x1500 render times around 5 minutes each view.
Added a bit of diffuse glow in Pshop.

That big balcony thing sticking out over the front just looks out of place. Nicely done model though.

nice modeling and general lighting - it couild probably use a little more directional light and brightness.....right now it looks like an overcast day.

              where is it at??....in Florida???

                Hi Brim, nice modeling work!

But I can not say the same of the building, I never saw anything like this before.... at least a half of the major clumns are missing, the balcony definitively is not part of the same cinderela history... ha well I just cant belive in what I m seeing

Ok, this is a kind of a joke right?

                    Hi Guys,
Thx for the comments. The client is very hell-bent on the design, his wife drew the initial plans, elevations so they knew exactly what they wanted. He actually named the house "El Palasio" - means "the palace" in Spanish.

I agree about the huge carport in the front - the client wanted this very feature much. I had fun modelling it but I also do not like the design too much. And yes, it is in Florida, of course. By the way, the Corithian column capitals I bought from Turbosquid - wish I could model them but I'm nowhere near as good as whoever did model them.

i actually like the design of the "palace", its something new and unique in my perspective.

nice modeling, but the architecture looks like one of saddam's palaces.

Hey Brim, how did you model the column captials? Looks nice!
I think the designer has a small obsession with Vizcaya perhaps.
Trying to cram elements of Vizcaya and some curvature into a small
space. Let me guess at the colors.... coral pink and coral beige?
That would be funny, looking forward to seeing the end product.
That is some great modeling work for such a short time frame.
I like the dome and turrets, adds an estate quality. What the $$$ tag
                          on that bad boy?

I think that monster entry might work with some large landscape features
like Washingtonian and Queen palms, surrounded of course by Sego palms. Perhaps that would help, mock up some landscape around
the entry to either accent or minimize the height.

(any plans for a hedge maze in the back?)
                          "It's the rebels sir....They're here..."

I did not model the captials - I purchased one from Turbosquid for $60 US. No clue about the colors. Like I said, the client is an egomaniac and wants his house to be some kind of palace. I think this is really lame but that's what he wants so I'm sure the colors he chooses for the exterior will be hideous. Price tag is at least $2.5 milllion US which is normal for this type of residence (3 story waterfront in Florida). Hedge maze? Probably not - more like a huge pool with disappearing ledge and hot tub for 10. Even if I had the money for this house I would never in my wildest dreams spend that much on a house (especially of this design).
