Far from done, but its supposed to look overcastish, fits my mood after working on it for so stupidly long.

    Crits?

props to steve for rendering it.

Nice. I'd shrink the bricks though, and add some colour variation to the green paint (not sure what it is) on the walls. Could even use some nice subtle super glossy reflections.
oh...and make the sun light shadow a soft shadow..not much..just slightly.

those aren't bricks or paint, those are copper panels. patinaed copper panels.

here's another render. darker, just like my mood.

I'll give the area shadows a shot on my next render.

Hehe..I could swear those are bricks on the ground floor exterior wall (couldn't help my self ).
I still think the painted or non painted panels would have a subtle glossy reflection. Especially if its oxidated copper, there would be more randomeness in its colouration. Try a fresnel with a low IOR (defult maybe), and a 0.4 or 0.3 value in the glossy spinner. (Interpolated -4/-2 would maybe do it).

          Just my 5 buckaziods........

what is the green material supposedto be representing? if its metal, perhaps some really soft interpolated reflections would help.

Also, if its supposed to be 'overcastish', you wouldn't really get any sun shadows at all - just very diffuse shadows leding up to the building.

What are you using for an environment to light the scene?

i see what you mean trixian, you think the bricks are too big?

the green isnt really suposed to look like paint but yeah, i'll sit down and try and make it look more metallic.

If you're going for putinia'd copper I'd actually use a bitmp rather than green diffuse and procedural brick. It will look more snazzy. Why not try it with shiniy new copper or titanium shingles? Would look much more zippy!

Then what is that extreme sharp shadow doing there?

                    ahhh good point.

If it was very overcast you wouldnt really have much of a distinctive shadow at all. Or if the sun was peeking thru the shadow would be very blurred out.

yeah got to agree ..... use some nice area shadows. shadows are to hard, one vray light should do it.

ok ok, i promise i will fix the shadows!

                        @brim
if i use the bitmap, the wall gets blown out in a really bad exposure kind of way. besides, the bitmap doesnt look all that different from what its rendering as right now.

the green parts could do with a small amount of glossy reflections. could look quite nice.

                          fix those shadows!!!!

Good work , keep it up.

i agree w/ Brim about the copper - using textures instead of procedurals - some nice, subtle weathering effect on the textures maybe....

also the brick seems to burned for an overcast day......i agree w/ the others about the shadows as well.

                            is it your design??.....
