Don't pay much attention to the floating torus knot i wanted to try out something

These seem ok to get the feeling of how global lighting will look in this room.
The thing is that i can't remember the settings because they were between two saved files, and all the renders i did after that, tweaking, end up looking worse.

    Look at this

One area light at the big window, and photons for both primary and secondary bounces. No matter what i do the wall where the window is turns black like this. Infact when max photons is around 30, that part of wall is lit, but has a lot of splotches, when i tune max photons to 500, its completly black.

Why i did this test with photons only is because after that first render, i've been getting a very sharp contrast between those two walls, like there is no GI there,

Something just feels very weird with this.

Anyone understands what im talking about?

No, I am not exactly sure what your procedure was...

If I get you right, at first you calculated a photon map (primary & secondary) saved it and render again (primary: Imap, secondary: saved photon map)? Actually all should work fine if you did so.
Don't set the photons to 400. This just blurs your gi!

If you give me some more infos I could help you better...
