  • Westfield Shopping Centre, Olympic Park

We've recently completed 18 images for Westfield Stratford City shopping centre which is located at the Olympic Park in London. I thought it was the opportune time to post them up here since it was the grand opening event today.

great images, liked the night setups - the only drawbacks are those night time people (lit different). It is a bog to tweak them accordingly.

              Thanks guys.

People are always tricky, especially when so many are needed in the image.

Recently my colleague Mark had a feature in 3d world magazine which you might get some tips from. If you missed that issue then there is a copy of the accompanying video here:

I did a render of our shop into this shopping center... If I need a 3d model of the mall for a future restyling I know who I can ask for it...

Great images, I like them. I saw some of them into a retail magazine.
                Good job

Some of the foreground people were shot specifically for the image but most of the people were from our stock library.

It was a tough job getting all the people to sit in the image convincingly. Since only relatively few of the people were sourced specifically (due to time/budget), of course some might have slightly incorrect lighting and perspective but we tried to get them as perfect as we could in the time we had (which wasn't all that long considering how many people we needed to include).
With the night images we could get away with a bit more by using some motion blurring, but it's still important to ground and shade them all individually to suit the image and to blur them convincingly (on a per limb basis if necessary).

Any tips on doing limb motion blur? I usually cut the limb, reposition it, paint a bit if there is something missing, and do a masked motion blur or gaussian depending on what looks better.

I really think it depends on the person you're blurring. Sometimes cutting the limb off is a good way. Often for legs you can marquee select a leg and radial blur it, positioning the centre point at the hip. For smaller areas sometimes the smudge tool is useful. Sometimes I have several copies of the person which are motion blurred to varying amounts and mask each version progressively in. There are lots of ways, all valid depending on the situation.

                              Nice images Rob.

Love the aerial dusk shot, and top notch on the people integration in the 3rd image.
