yep.. at the mo, for the kind of budgets and timescales of arch vis.. theyre pretty much the only option.. but you have to keep em a long way from the camera to avoid ruining any realism you might have achieved!

other option is greenscreen stuff, but thats usually reserved for the really spendy clients, and is not much good for really dynamic stuff.. the motion controlled camera rigs can only do so much!

lowpolygon 3d seems to be most realistic. At least like this guy,

rocketbox is actually the best in terms of detail and "closeup-ability" but not very cheap (well for what you get it is..)

                http://www.rocketbox.de/prefab.html

                http://www.rocketbox-libraries.com/i...-42c-500a.html

but even then, its not exactly realistic when you drop them in a scene.. its amazing how easily the eye picks up any inaccuracies when looking at people.. particularly animated ones.. grr. maybe i should ask people to squint when they view my work.

Now that you mention it, i may have been thinking about got3d. I had to populate an african american cultural center with... guess, african americans. I think AXYZ was the only one who actually had a library like this but it came with low poly boom boxes, people doing pushups, baggy pants and shirts...

This is fairly old but it was done with 3d people only,

                  http://www.chaosgroup.com/forums/vbu...=august+wilson

Later we used a few people that came in both 3d and hi-res cutouts, but i can't remember which library it was.

                  *edit*

I'll probably but one of those viz people libraries. They seem to be really high quality. And it's probably cheaper than being subscribed to a porn site.

Looking much better Bobby. The kids now need shadows from the scene painted on them. The girl on the far left stands out the most. I'd also expect that the harry potter boy would be darker, due to his position behind the wall.

Thanks, Colin. I did paint shadows, and highlights on them all. I'll give my eyes a rest and look at it more later. Harry Potter is a little bright!

to get rid of all the artifacts, I had to crank up settings, and my rendering times were huge. What should I expect for a scene like this? It took 10 hours to render on my small render farm. (6 quad cores with 12 Gig of ram, per machine)
