  • Some new images

    Hey guys,
It's been a while since I posted anything on here. The quality of work seems to have gone in leaps and bounds, to the extent that sometimes it's difficult to distinguish between what is real and 3D.
However, as it is the VRay forum, I guess it is safe to assume that it's probably CG is most cases.

Anyway, here are some images that I have completed recently and would like to share.
As always, comments are very welcomed as I have probably spent too long staring at these images already.
A fresh set of eyes would be much appreciated.

Don't know what it is but I knew the first pic was set in Australia for some reason. Maybe the cars on the left surreptitiously gave it away!

Good renders and such a nice atmosphere.

I know exactly where this is in Melbourne based purely on the carpark to the left of the exterior! :P Prahran?

Hehe but in all seriousness they look great. For some reason the white light shades in the first interior shot really stood out in a good way.

                Well done, Vu!

                  Thanks for your comments Karonte.
All images are LWF, rendered into separate lighitng passes and added back together in AfterFX.
                  DOF is post effect.

Well spotted. Cars on the "wrong" side of the road would be a give away.
And perhaps the colours in the sky might be another giveaway...I notice that we tend to grade our renders with more colour than our EU friends.
Their images tend to be more desaturated in sky and sun light.
Anyone else notice this or is it just me?

@PixelBox_SRO: Not sure what you mean about cowhide workflow/tips. The rug is just a basic mesh with a texture map. It has hair attached to it which has been converted to mesh. Pretty straightforward. Let me know if something is not clear.

@Pixelcon: LOL. Well spotted...you have a very keen eye. Yes it is in Prahran right next door to Swinburne COFA (I use to teach there also). I like that shade as well and turned it slightly off centre to make sure it read better from that angle.

i dont understand how you have converted hair to mesh...are you using hair fur? making a nice cowhide is quite tricky and i think you have mastered it...at least fom this distance

                          Really beautiful pictures here...
I'm loving the interiors scenes... really "clean" and nice lightning.
If i have one thing to add this is some details on the exterior's terrace...
But this is just a little detail..
                          i ll be back

I like the first image very much but being old school I'd prefer it to be perspecitve corrected.

very nice work.. id say on the interior shots, the exterior is the weak link. too saturated in comparison to the interiors. needs desaturating a touch maybe.. knocking it back into the glare coming in through the windows a bit. very nice atmosphere though
