my clients say that my plants always look too much like plastic. they are asking if i could just photo montage trees into it but that usually looks even worst in my oppinion. any ideas on how to have better looking trees?

ill be needing lots of foliage for this scene

I like xfrog's plants, you also can use bionatics' but it seems to be a little more expensive.
Lot of people around here use textures from Marlin Studios and models from Tree Professional as well.

    Good luck

only thing i can suggest is to redo the palm trees. you can tell that it's the same fern shard scaled over and over. you need variance in shard size while scaling down, and variance in colors as well. rotate each shard just slightly as well, to further vary the leafs.

They seem a little flat maybe because how close the are to the building and the specular on them doesn't match the sky and lighting. The saturation mathces the render well

You need alot more variation in color and plants are usually dark green. Some of my plants at home are really light green but that's cos of the northern orientation and their distance to the sun. Real outdoor plants have brown leaves or with palmtrees either hanging old dry leaves or a very characteristic chopped off "cone" look.

search "resort" at google and you'll se some nice palmtrees.

            Happy hunting

probably it's just me, but i find the trees in the image above a bit too large too ...

regarding the tree models, bionatics is too heavy to work on, IMHO.

actally no. its the free ones that came with x-frog demo. ive since ordered their libraries. the palms i just took their baby banana and took the leaves off and put on my own leaves (which look really bad i know hehe)

They look kinda big to me too, the palm for example, and not very well placed (i'm talking about the first image), try scaling down the trees a bit see how it turns out.

                      Hi !

                      Just one thing.
why do you leave a bikini to your female modeles ?

Your client will no longer look at your trees ...

                      Ok ! It's not a good idea.

Merry Chrismas to you all !!!
