Love the Ars Thanea touch. Would love to see more about the development of such a project, particularly regarding the combination of 3d and 2d.

                    Hi all,

wow thanks a lot for c&c!

                    as for your question,

Post work was done by two amazing retouchers, Pawel Nolbert and Karol Kolodzinski (there are making 'Ars Thanea touch'), we also have support from digital painter Michal Lisowski.
From many different reason that poped-up during the project some islands were touched more in Ps (down-right island and top-left one) than the others (the island with skull, castle, mickey mouse logo and Greek temple). Also the whole water was done in 2D.
What you can see in 'sample 3D' is pretty much 'clean 3D' render after I setup all pass-es in Ps.

I wish that but from the same reason in the end I had no more than 2/3 days per island for lighting, texturing and first comp in PS. But on the other hand, YES! it was a big fun, it always is when you are working for Disney, they always came back with nice feedback that makes the image better and better.

btw, I was testing (and used on few objects) rShaders by Alessandro Cangelosi, nice shaders, I'm looking forward for version that work with new Vray.

                    thanks,
                    Peter

                      Fantastic work!

I absolutely love the style the paint-over gives everything.

Really nice work Peter ! loving the render. I do have a question regarding the rShaders since you test them, don't you think it's possible to recreate these shaders using only vray materials and achieve a simular resultat. What interest me the most is that ice shader .
