      hi natty,

      yes i'm using vray shadows

      [x] Area Shadows
[x] Sphere (Box didn't work either)
      UVW Size: 25,25,25
      Subdivs: 6

That happens sometimes if you have a direct light with Vray area shadows set to sphere (somehow unlogic).

1.) Switch to Area shadow/ Box
2.) Try to increase UVW size

          should work

          regards,

All you need to do is tick "smooth surface shadows"

              That can be pretty useful!
I rememer busting my brains when i was rendering a character, it also had such sharp transitions...

                ...having still the same prob

                thanks guys,
but none of the suggested hints eliminated those sharp edges!
                well, maybe there's a workauround...

Something just feels very wrong with your lighting in global. Could you post a wireframe setting of the scene and your light setups,

In order to have such a long shadow coming from that line of roof tiles (how's that called in english?) on the left side of the roof - the sun should be low, and yet both sides of roof seem equealy illuminated

Maybe you have some lights in the scene you forgot about and didn't remove them?
