  • Eames Plastic Side Chairs (full lineup)

    Hey all.
I recently finished modelling the full line-up of Eames Plastic Side Chairs and thought I'd drop them into a little scene. The first image does not belong in the series but was inspired from Vitra's marketing material (Vitra holds the rights to many Eames pieces here in Europe). Hope you like them.
Due to the upload limit on the forum, you can check out the rest of the series here.

        Thanks guys.

Actually, I have. Almost every model comes double: either with the plastic and upholstered shells or with the plastic and vintage fibreglass shells.

I was commissioned to do a scene that required some (though not all) of the Eames chairs. Not this one, though. This one was done for fun and to showcase the models. Way to dirty for real-world clients!

I dont care about chairs BUT i am totally curios about your background like on picture 3 , that curtain wall is really good if is modelled and textured can you tell some close info about that ??

It's an interesting point that largely commissioned work demands 'new' looking materials from CG Artists but that much of personal work posted by people here or elsewhere
seems to thrive on older or more weathered looking materials (or at least that's how it seems to my eye)
I think the perceivable difference in the photographic quality between the 'old' and the 'new' materials is a lot greater
in the CG arena than their are evident differences between them in real interior/architectural photography itself and I wonder why. Is it just down to the resolution of CG images?
(i.e the imperfections/variations on a 'new' material are so much smaller in their definition that they just don't register in a render)

Anyway, excellent work on the chairs, they look great! I'm interested in the glazing on image 3 also. Is the window putty defined with a map on the window geometry or modelled separately?

Yes, all is 3D here except the outside environment. The windows were modelled and the glass panes are made of a three-layer material.
