  • Park Shelter

Here, is a park shelter I was asked to illustrate, for an owners meeting, next week. I love referrals, it's the highest of complement to be referred by a past client. The project had a relatively small budget which didn't allow for vegetation and people, but I might add some when I get a chance.

now that I see it on screen, it looks a little moody. I might brighten it up a bit.

Yeah it looks a little dark. BTW-exactly where did you work on this if this is the first time seeing it on screen?

To be honest you can't see inside the shelter so it looks quite menacing. I'd break your background from whatever is lighting the scene, and bring waaay more light into the actual shelter - you can quite happily keep the sky as is, or even bring down the exposure a tiny bit for more detail but I think this rendering doesn't do the job of either making the shelter inviting, or even giving enough light so people can actually see what's inside there. I'd totally recommend a cheap DSLR so you've got a good reference for how things end up being exposed in the real world!

I like it as it is, except also like John says, need more light inside.
At the moment the place looks like where dodgy characters hang out
                Kind Regards,

I like everything, but lack of light underneath, which I'll add some fill lights.

If you extended the light coloured paving a little so it extends outside the current footprint - on the south side, and had some real sunlight (not that hazy stuff), at a higher azimuth, it will naturally bounce light to the inside.
(I always remember one of my buildings with an aluminium roof, which reflected amazing light to the underside of another roof which overhung it).

Here is the final. Something went really wrong with the model, so I had to do a lot of PhotoShop work. It seems, somehow, GI got broken. I imported the model into a new scene, I started over with all my shaders, but it still looked wrong.
